Less than a week after European soccer seemed set for a breakaway league, similar to Australian rugby league, the plan appears dead and buried.

After outcries from fans, players and even governments, the project – which Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez claimed would save football – is dead.

Well, according to Perez’s words, it’s on “standby”. But with 9 out of 12 clubs having withdrawn it certainly wouldn’t be as big as it would’ve been.

To the equity markets, where the ASX is teetering around the 7000 point mark. It’s currently at 7,005 points as at 11.50am – a 0.11 per cent gain from yesterday.

Sequoia (ASX:SEQ) and Pointerra (ASX:3DP) both rose off the back of quarterlies. The latter company is now more than a 10-bagger in 12 months in a run that started when Bevan Slattery invested in the company.

Golden Rim (ASX:GMR) rose after announcing it would restart work on its silver and base metals project in Chile.

After more than doubling yesterday, electronic locking device maker  TZ Ltd (ASX:TZL) nearly halved after confirming to the ASX there was nothing new to explain its rise from yesterday.

However it said it was considering a capital raise or other financing alternatives with a debt facility expiring at the end of July.
