ASX Small Cap Lunch Wrap: Who’s got a string of demands today?

ASX stocks have copped a dose of the Friday Blues from Wall Street, after the major US indices all dipped to end the week.
Those falls followed a weaker-than-expected US retail sales print, prompting fears that not all is well in the world’s largest economy.
Down under, Australians are relatively cashed up and big retailers like Premier Investments (ASX:PMV) have reported strong trading updates this month.
But more broadly, local stocks are tracking for a Monday fall, with steeper declines in the Emerging Markets microcap index which is down almost 1.5 per cent into midday trade.
ASX microcaps are tracking about as well as the organisers of this year’s Australian Open, who are trying to run a major tennis tournament without causing a COVID-19 outbreak.
International arrivals have been forced into strict quarantine and one of them, Novak Djokovic, is pissed.
While one could argue the Djoker doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to the ‘rona, he’s issued a number of requests to tennis policymakers for players in quarantine, including the possibility of an early release following consecutive negative tests.
In response, the Victorian government has told Novak… no dice. The Open is scheduled to start on February 8. Stay tuned…

Mining minnow Amani Gold (ASX:ANL) ticked higher in percentage terms (from a low base of 0.1c), although the Congo-based explorer only released an Appendix 2A related to the vesting of performance rights.
Also rising strongly was Superior Resources (ASX:SPQ), which said first assays from stage-two drilling at delivered gold hits of up to 184g/t at its Steam Engine project in North Queensland.
Lithium Australia (ASX:LIT) also jumped after the company announced it would not be renewing its exploration licences in Germany, after the pandemic “rendered work in these areas almost impossible” last year.
