ASX Small Cap Lunch Wrap: Who’s getting up off the canvas today?

Nate Robinson couldn't get off the canvas, but ASX small caps have done just that in 2020. (Pic: Getty)
Answer: Not Nate Robinson.
The former NBA player faced off in a licensed boxing match against YouTube celebrity Jake Paul yesterday, only to eat two big right hands and leave the ring very much worse for wear.

Capping off a bizarro boxing weekend extravaganza, old school legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr fought to an eight-round draw in a slugfest of their own.
51-year old Jones Jr played a wily jab-and-hold game to nullify the threat from 54-year old Tyson, who still looked ripped enough to cause some serious damage.
While not everyone got off the mat, ASX microcaps on the Emerging Companies Index (AXEC) have done just that this year with a barnstorming 2020 rally.
Local stocks made a subdued start to the week this morning, with banks lower while oil prices dipped ahead of an all-important two-day OPEC meeting.
But microcaps continued on their merry way, climbing by around one per cent into midday trade.
After bottoming out below 800 on March 23, the AXEC has risen to almost 1,900 — a gain of almost 150 per cent and by our measure the highest reading since April 2011.
