Equity markets are performing well today but NFT (non-fungible token) markets are the real winner today.

NFTs are digital assets that can be bought and sold similar to jpegs and video clips but on a blockchain.

NFT markets received another boost overnight with a US$2.9 million sale of the first ever tweet of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. The tweet, displayed below in its US$2.9 million glory, was made 15 years ago, in 2006.

The tweet joins a growing collection of assets that are now or soon to be NFTs including a 10-second video clip of Donald Trump (which sold for US$6.6 million), the next Kings of Leon album and a US$69.3 million artwork.

Back to the equity markets and local markets have followed the US in starting the week modestly higher. The ASX 200 is up 0.28 per cent while the ASX Emerging Companies Index is up 0.46 per cent.

The biggest story on the market is the long awaited IPO of Australian tech icon Airtasker (ASX:ART). Shares rose as high as 70 per cent in early trading but has cooled in the last hour – currently sitting at a 40 per cent premium to its IPO price.

Today’s biggest winner is gold-silver explorer Riedel Resources (ASX:RIE) after exploration results from its Kingman project in Arizona.

Intersections included 3.8m @ 98.9g/t gold & 151 g/t silver from 20.6m including 1.5m @ 230.8g/t gold and 359g/t silver.

In total results for 21 holes have been received and another 10 holes will be drilled in the coming days with results to come in May.

Specialist pipeline couplings company SRJ Technologies Group (ASX:SRJ) rose as well after receiving its inaugural purchase order from oil and gas services provider MODEC.

SRJ said MODEC is the world’s largest floating production storage and offloading unit owner and operator and it is expecting further orders in the 2021 calendar year.
