ASX Small Cap Lunch Wrap: Tips for surviving the bears while the bulls hold sway
News
News
Local stocks got back in the winners column this morning, with the ASX200 and the Small Ords index comfortably in the green into midday trade.
The post-COVID bull market continues to hold strong in the face of the pandemic (which is holding just as strong), with the ASX200 still 37 per cent higher than its March lows.
But if things do turn bearish again, we bring you some advice from the US National Parks Service:
“Don’t push your slower friends down in attempts of saving yourself.”
That potentially useful reminder came from a notice posted to the NPS Facebook page.
In keeping with the bulls & bears theme, we’ve made some stock-centric edits to the final passage of the Parks Service announcement below:
“We apologise to any ‘friends’ (see: retail investors) who were brought on a hike (see: stock options trading) as the ‘bait’ or were sacrificed to save the group (see: sophisticated hedge funds facing a liquidity crunch). You will be missed.”
Elsewhere in markets, there wasn’t much change to the main themes overnight as gold continues to hold comfortably above $US2,000oz, while the AUD continues to flirt with US72c amid ongoing weakness in the US dollar.

Leading the pack today was recruitment tech platform IntelliHR (ASX:IHR), which ripped higher on the back a $5.5m capital raise announcement led by big-name tech investor Bevan Slattery.
IHR will use the funds for working capital and to drive a push into the North American market. Commenting on the deal, Slattery said IHR can play a key role in sourcing staff for the new remote-work landscape, which has “suddenly shifted forever” in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also rising strongly was Caprice Resources (ASX:CRS), which has commitments to raise $1.6m via a share placement at 18c in connection with acquisition of the Island project in WA’s Cue goldfields.
Pending shareholder approval and due diligence, the share-based deal will see CRS issue 16,680,000 shares to eligible shareholders in Goldview Metals, the current owner.
CRS will then allocate around $1m in exploration costs, with further royalties and share payments arranged in the event it proves up a mineral resource at the site.
