You know it’s a rough day for markets when Queensland announced it’s letting Sydneysiders in again and even stocks that’d benefit are down.
Last time Queensland re-opened in late November, travel stocks such as Flight Centre (ASX:FLT) and Qantas (ASX:QAN) rallied but even they’re down today.
The ASX has shed nearly 2.5 per cent this morning, the worst day since June, following pullbacks on Wall St and in Europe.
But here’s one stock that has gone against the tide – again.
This company shares the same code as US listed esports provider GameStop (NYSE:GME) which gained another 134 per cent overnight and is now up over 400 per cent in a week.
Despite the stock being reliant on selling video games to physical stores, it saw a merry band of Redditors (and also, Elon Musk) buy in over recent days.

Small cap oil plays and joint venture partners BPH Energy (ASX:BPH) and Bounty Oil & Gas (ASX:BUY) both climbed today after the former stock clarified that a decision on whether to grant the joint venture a petroleum license was immanent.
The news came in a price query the ASX sent to BPH earlier this week following an unexplained share price rise.
In the resources sector, US-focused lithium play Hawkstone Mining (ASX:HWK) excited investors with the results of metallurgical testing at its project. The results showed substantial success including 90 per cent recovery rates of lithium.
