ASX Small Cap Lunch Wrap: Nothing is sacred anymore

Global markets have hit a lull today after a barnstorming vaccine-led November rally.
Don’t worry — local stocks are still on track for their best month in 32 years, with the ASX200 trading flat while the microcap Emerging Companies index is up 0.7pc.
But by November’s standards it’s looking like a relatively quiet session, with US markets closed tonight for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The recent run of gains saw the US Dow Jones index eclipse 30,000 this week — a mark ascribed with holy qualities by the outgoing US Prez.
Following the 30,000 breach on Tuesday, Donald Trump made an unscheduled one-minute cameo in the White House briefing room to flag the new stock market highs.
“Never been broken, that number. That’s a sacred number, 30,000,” he said.
However, a slightly more subdued session on Wall Street overnight saw the Dow slip back to 29,872 with a 0.58pc fall.

While markets aren’t exactly surging, there were still no less than 11 ASX small caps that leapt onto today’s winner’s list with market-moving announcements.
Among the leaders was Perth-based distribution company Stealth Global (ASX:SGI), which almost doubled before easing back slightly after announcing that it will acquire Brisbane based tool supplier C&L for $3.8 million.
Also on the acquisition trail was Viking Mines (ASX:VKA), which rose almost 40pc after striking a conditional deal to acquire 100pc of Red Dirt Mining Pty Ltd — owner of the First Hit gold exploration project in WA’s eastern goldfields.
And ASX competitor the NSX (ASX:NSX) continued its torrid rally, from below 10c at the end of October to a new 13-year high of 38c in morning trade.
This morning’s ~17pc gain accompanied the NSX’s annual general meeting, with a presentation from CEO John Karantzis released to the market.
