Last week was chaotic for investors as global stocks suffered their worst declines since March.

The spark — flaring COVID-19 numbers and an ‘edge-of-your-seat’ US presidential election – probably means this week won’t be any better.

The US election is due to be decided Wednesday (Aussie time).

Trump has consistently trailed challenger Biden in national polls for months, but polls have shown a closer race in the most competitive states.

And we all know what happened last time.

Boom.

The Aussie market has fallen six of the past seven trading days, but still rose by 1.9 per cent in October thanks to a strong start to the month.

This morning, the new ASX website crapped the bed, again.

Still, we reckon the ASX 200 index was up about 0.33 per cent to 5,947.2 points to 12:15pm eastern time.
