The rest of the market is lower, dragged by Afterpay (ASX:APT), the big banks and the big miners, but small caps were staying buoyant at lunchtime.

The Small Ordinaries index was up marginally, by 1.5 points or 0.05 per cent, to 3181.5 shortly after noon on Friday.

The ASX200 was down 0.2 per cent and the ASX20 down 0.31 per cent, in contrast.

Sectors were mixed, with consumer discretionary, consumer staples, healthcare and telecoms higher and the rest were lower.

Energy was the biggest loser, down 2.16 per cent, while healthcare the biggest gainer, up 1.78 per cent.

Redflex Holdings (ASX:RDF) has been the biggest winner, soaring 116 per cent to 87c after the traffic camera manufacturer received a 92c per share takeover offer from Verra Mobility (NDQ:VRRM).

Story-I (ASX:SRY) was up 47.4 per cent to 2.8c after the Indonesian Apple reseller reported strong second-quarter iPhone sales.

Genetic Technologies (ASX:GTG) rose 39 per cent to $1.25 after the cancer testing company announced a $US6.6 million ($8.5 million) capital raising.

HGL (ASX:HNG) was up 25.7 per cent to 22c after announcing it had reached an agreement to acquire Supervised Investments Australia, a fund manager, for 3 million HGL shares.
