Gas exploration company Elixir Energy (ASX:EXR) was the standout in morning trade. The stock ripped higher after a drilling update at its fully-owned Nomgon IX coal-bed methane project in Mongolia.

The results showed “visible coal quality is highly encouraging for gas content and permeability”, EXR said.
