A total of 41 stocks have successfully completed a public listing in Australia this year.
And by the numbers, October has been a relatively busy month, with no less than five companies joining the ASX bourse.
Equipment services provider Mader Group (ASX:MAD) kicked things off on October 1, raising $50m from investors at $1 per share.
That was followed by Trigg Mining (ASX:TMG) and the launch of the latest investment trust from global fund manager Magellan, which raised $860m from investors.
Retail property group Home Consortium (ASX:HMC) and HR software company Damstra Holdings (ASX:DTC) rounded out the October listing activity.
HMC, the consortium which snapped up strategic retail sites left in the wake of Woolworths’ ill-fated foray into the hardware business, raised $325m at $3.35 per share
And combined with Magellan’s new trust, the amount of capital raised in October came in at $1.29bn — the highest monthly total of 2019.
It comfortably topped the second highest month in June, which had more activity with 10 listings that raised a total of $670m.
All up, companies have raised a total of $4.185 billion on the public markets this year, and since listing those companies have posted a healthy average return of 59.6 per cent.
That average is skewed somewhat by the big winners, with nine of the 41 stocks posting returns in excess of 100 per cent. Telecommunications company Uniti Wireless (ASX:UWL) easily kept its lead — it’s up 538.9 per cent at date of publication, since listing in February.
