The Unicorns Podcast connects you to some of the best and brightest founders, CEOs, executives, business owners, innovators, entrepreneurs and inspiring leaders who make things happen and inspire others.
Host Justin Kelly, former broadcast journalist and PR veteran, chats with leaders from across Australia and internationally on business strategy; what it takes to build a successful company; how to overcome challenges, and advice for those on a similar journey.
In this episode, Justin talks with Brad Lingo, chairman of Pilot Energy (ASX:PGY), a company leading the clean energy transition through the development of one of Australia’s first offshore carbon capture and storage projects, and Chad Badry from Svante Technologies, a Global Cleantech 100 company with innovative tech to capture carbon.
Carbon capture, and storage, or CCS for short, is increasingly being seen as a key solution in the fight to reach net zero emissions. The long-proven technology is garnering greater support from government representatives, industry, and experts as it becomes clearer that hitting emissions reduction targets is going to require methods that enable the removal of existing emissions as well as longer term low-emissions clean energy options.
Pilot and Canada-native Svante Technologies recently executed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on offering a “one-stop-shop solution” for carbon capture, transportation, and storage to industrial businesses with hard-to-avoid CO2 emissions. The first port of call for the pair will be helping the Kwinana Industrial Area in Western Australia cut its roughly 8 million tonnes of CO2 each year.
Brad from Pilot talks about what exactly CCS is, recent legislative changes in support of the technology and the company’s Mid West Clean Energy Project. Chad from Svante talks about the advantages of the company’s CCS tech, how the partnership with Pilot came about and Svante’s foray into Australia.
