UK-tech company Aeristech has placed its first production order for 50 S15 6kW hydrogen fuel cell compressors from Sprintex for US$72,500 (A$108,000).

Following a year of design, extensive testing and engineering validation, Sprintex (ASX:SIX) has received its first order of high-speed electric compressors from Aeristech after entering a collaboration agreement with the company back in September 2021.

The agreement marked SIX’s transformative expansion into the electric compressor business after developing unique and proprietary intellectual property for the hydrogen fuel sector over the last decade.

Further orders are expected to follow for two larger models included in the agreement, Sprintex’s S20 (10kw) and S39 (25kW) units.

High level of demand and interest

SIX managing director Jay Upton says the company is “very pleased” to achieve this milestone and proud to supply its first batch of production compressors.

“I was really excited to see the level of interest and activity in this market segment, as well as the level of demand for our high efficiency electric compressors to meet the upcoming mandated reduction of carbon emissions from road vehicles in many advanced markets around the world.  There’s no doubt that end user demand is ramping up in this sector”

The production order follows customer interest at the recent World Hydrogen Expo in Bremen, Germany at which numerous NDAs were signed with many key players in the Hydrogen energy sector.

The company expects this will lead to further orders down the track.
