Leading NFT marketplace OpenSea has now pretty much confirmed it will soon be integrating Solana NFT functionality.
In a tweet (see below), OpenSea teased the Solana NFT support with a 16-second video and the caption: “The best kept secret in web3”. The video also displayed: “wen solana?” and a bunch of different Solana-based NFTs, before confirming: “April 2022”.

Rumours of the Solana NFT support have been floating about all year. In January, for instance, tech blogger Jane Manchun Wong found references to Solana as a supported blockchain while reverse-engineering OpenSea’s website, which she then shared on Twitter.
With the rumours now all but substantiated, it should keep OpenSea well and truly in a position of dominance in the NFT marketplace battle, although it may have some competition from the upcoming launch of Coinbase NFT, which is still “coming soon”.
In March, OpenSea pulled in more than 1.7 million ETH (nearly US$5.8 billion) in sales volume, according to data gathered by Dune Analytics. Although Ethereum-based NFTs are by far the most widely developed and traded, the Solana integration could give a decent boost to that kind of OpenSea volume.
One thing’s for sure, Magic Eden, which recently raised US$27 million in Series A funding, will have its work cut out to maintain its position as the leading Solana NFT marketplace.
Want more options for buying crypto? MetaMask has you covered. The widely used crypto software wallet has now added new payment gateways to its mobile wallet for iOS users.
According to a series of tweets, MetaMask is enabling iPhone users to buy crypto through the mobile application using Visa and Mastercard debit cards or credit cards stored in Apple Pay.
It’s achieving this, by the way, not directly through Apple, but through a third-party service called Wyre which supports crypto payments and integrates with Apple Pay.
📣 MetaMask Mobile v4.3.1 is LIVE with some exciting updates:
Buy crypto on iOS with Apple Pay (@sendwyre), more transparency when interacting with sites, & support for gasless transactions where relevant.
Does it get any better? Yes it does! We now have dark mode! 🌑

This effectively removes the need to transfer ETH from a centralised exchange such as Coinbase or Binance into the application in order to add funds.
MetaMask notes that there is a daily maximum deposit of US$400 and that gas fees will be kept low for these transactions.
Additionally, the ConsenSys-owned wallet app has also integrated the Apple “Dark Mode” feature that seems pretty popular with iPhone users.
🕶🦊 Wen dark mode? Now dark mode! One of our most anticipated feature requests is here.
Dark mode will automatically enable if your OS has dark mode enabled system-wide.
And yes, dark mode for MM Extension is coming soon™️.
