What organisers expect will be the biggest-ever in-person crypto event in Australia is being planned for September 16 to 18 on the Gold Coast.

David Haslop, founder of the Crypto Den trading education platform, has rented out the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre for the Australian Crypto Convention and envisions an event with 5,000 convention-goers and 60 vendors.

“So it’s gonna be very, very big,” he told Stockhead this morning.

“We’ve got international speakers coming over from different countries, obviously people from here … the whole idea of the convention is my philosophy from when I started, mass adoption through education.”

The focus will be on all aspects of crypto, including NFTs, the metaverse, decentralised autonomous organisations, trading, how to invest, security and how to set up a hardware wallet.

“People attending will leave knowing everything they need to know to get started, whether they are an investor or a business that wants to utilise blockchain tech,” Haslop said.

Changing the narrative

A lot of people still see crypto as a scam, Haslop noted.

“And I just thought to myself, why don’t we hold actual events in person, so that people can come and see something that’s tangible and learn about different products and services? Then they can look at it, feel it touch it, talk to it … it’s going to be more realistic to the average person.

“And I think the more we do that, the faster we’re going to see that kind of mass adoption coming into mainstream industry and things like that.”

Sponsors have already signed on – blockchain accounting platform Accointing.com; Perth-based crypto Phaeton; Queensland-based crypto exchange Swyftx; Crypto News Australia; Australian hardware wallet provider Coinstop; and digital marketing business Intender.
