Well, it’s been a wild summer down under.
The country is still dealing with a devastating bushfire season which claimed more than 30 lives and destroyed over 2,000 homes.
Now, half of the east coast is under water.
A low-pressure system dumped about 80mm of rain on Sydney overnight while Brisbane saw almost 100mm, giving rise to multiple road closures and flooding issues for some offices and homes.
The stormy conditions are expected to continue over the weekend, with weather experts estimating the greater Sydney area could receive 400mm of rain over the coming days.
Things are getting pretty hectic out west too, where Tropical Cyclone Damien is scheduled to reach land in the Pilbara region over the weekend — bringing with it winds in excess of 200km/h.
It wasn’t quite so crazy on the ASX, as markets dipped lower before all-important US jobs data later tonight.
The Small Ords index was down 0.29 per cent to 3,011 points, while the ASX200 fell 0.45 per cent to 7,017 points.
