The day ahead in data

The Australian Bureau of Statistics today drops construction data, but there is little else happening in the world of data.

The ASX200 gained 24 points to 6,500 yesterday but the small ords took a hit, down 9.3 points to 2,835.3.

Yesterday’s winners

LBT Innovations (ASX:LBT) was the biggest winner, up 136 per cent to 17c after its half-owned joint venture Clever Culture Systems received FDA clearance for an instrument that can process 200 culture plates an hour and see which are growing bacteria. It was the last hurdle in order to start selling in the US.

CCP Technologies (ASX:CT1) was also doing well, up 38 per cent to 2c. It followed a sale announcement yesterday (shares up 60 per cent) with news that one of their low-temperature devices has passed Monash University testing (shares up 54 per cent). That suggests its disastrous foray into cryptocurrency last year and shedding of executives has been forgiven.

Yesterday’s losers

A shortfall in an entitlement offer intended to raise $5.3 million fell short for 9 Spokes (ASX:9SP), which saw shares in the company drop 18 per cent to 2c yesterday.

The company raised only $2.7 million, though underwriter Patersons Securities will foot the remaining bill.
