The establishment of a new R&D Panel and the hiring of Dr Ponnie Clark at its head will move the company’s technology development strategy forward.

With an already successful affiliate marketing network platform  i-Synergy (ASX:IS3) is looking to incorporate and ramp up its technological capability by establishing a new Research & Development (R&D) Panel.

The Panel, incorporated under a new subsidiary called Distributed Ledger Technologies, will focus on software development and patent applications that will form part of the company’s strategy to bring nascent technology into the sector.

IS3 has brought in a computer science expert, Dr Ponnie Clark, as Head of the new Panel.

Clark is currently a Senior Research Fellow in the Computer Sciences Department at The University of Western Australia, and  has extensive research in multidisciplinary areas underpinned by technology, data science and digital solutions.
Her areas of interest and expertise include Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Computing, Ontology Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, Big Data, Blockchain and the like.

Dr Clark’s vast knowledge will help steer the Panel on aspects of research, while providing a sounding board for management in analysing new tech developments.

Her role will also include working on government grants applications for the existing and developing areas of the I Synergy business.

Rewalty time

i-Synergy’s acquisition of POSTech (the company behind loyalty program app Rewalty) has brought together two companies that could leverage on each other’s strengths.

With innovation and technology constantly changing, IS3 believes nascent technology and AI features provided by Rewalty could be used to create a needed niche in the Australian market.

The combined company will also benefit from utilising IS3’s existing affiliate marketing reach in Australia and Southeast Asia to expand the POSTech platform.

i-Synergy Chief Technology Officer, Kevin Coutinho, believes this is where the new R&D platform could become an integral element in the company’s overall strategy.

“The focus at IS3 has always been to facilitate the engagement between customers and merchants,” Coutinho said.

“With an evolving technology landscape, the need to align arises and that is why we have set up an in-house R&D Lab to demonstrate our technological prowess and adapt to the changing needs of the market.”

New head, Dr Ponnie Clark, says getting government R&D grants is one of the main focus points of her new role.

“My focus will be on conducting state-of-the-art research on application-level patents, seeking grants where applicable and leveraging artificial intelligence to further the development of the affiliate marketing business of I Synergy,” Dr Clark said.

“AI-powered affiliate marketing can provide businesses and their affiliates with valuable insights, leading to growth opportunities,” she added.

Managing Director Mr Dato Lawrence Teo Chee Hong commented, “We are very excited to bring onboard Dr Ponnie Clark onboard to advise and give us insights into her research areas which will help the Company bring focus to its applications and provide growth opportunities.”
