Special Report: Strategic Element’s Nanocube Memory Ink tech has been recognised as one of the best new developments in the printed electronics sector by a high growth  emerging technologies expert.

“I genuinely think it’s one of the best developments I’ve seen in a while in printed electronics,” strategy, research and consulting firm IDtechX chief executive Raghu Das said.

Das, who has assisted high-growth emerging technologies from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, hand-picked Strategic Elements (ASX:SOR) to be one of about 20 companies from around the world that will demonstrate their technology in a dedicated area at the IDTechEx Show! that will be held in Berlin in mid-May.

The company’s Nanocube Memory Ink makes it possible to print memory directly on flexible plastics and other materials at low temperature, using coating and printing technologies and inks that contain memory technologies within them.

It paves the way for innovative new product applications where electronics can function on flexible plastics and transparent glass materials.

This is achieved by using nanotechnology to infuse an ink with billions of nanometre-scale particles that have been combined with electrodes, which can then be printed onto non-silicon materials to create memory cells.

“It is very satisfying that the technology demonstrator has received such positive feedback from recognised experts,” Strategic Elements managing director Charles Murphy said.

“The Nanocube technology has incredible potential to enable whole new electronics product categories through printability, transparency and flexibility.”

Strategic Elements’ transparent glass demonstrator

The company has already received encouraging early stage feedback on potential co-development options from a recent technology demonstrator presentation in Finland.

It is also progressing its goals, which include fabricating a demonstrator device with a 2D storage array on flexible material, seeking a potential licensing or strategic funding partner and securing an additional funding grant from the Australian government.
