Special report: Nano-satellite maker Sky and Space is forging new relationships across the Americas as it pushes forward with plans to build a cost-effective, global communications network.

The company (ASX:SAS) told investors today it had signed an agreement with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), a Caribbean-based inter-governmental organisation.

The OECS works to drive economic development and protect human and legal rights within its member-countries which include Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Island, Anguilla and Martinique.

The organisation wants to incorporate Sky and Space’s technology into the existing communication infrastructures of its member countries to improve reliability, accessibility and feasibility.

The announcement is another sign of progress in the region for Sky and Space. Earlier this month, the company announced a deal with Foundation Busie Suriname – an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Suriname in South America.

The agreement was the first of its kind within the wider Caribbean region.

These recent announcements align with Sky and Space Global’s vision to use its nano-satellite technology to enable a low-cost communications solution for some of the most remote places on earth.

The company plans to launch 200 nano satellites in total and place them in a carefully-selected orbit giving equatorial coverage of the Earth, creating a global communication network for voice, data and instant messaging.

Sky and Space CEO Meir Moalem says this most recent agreement signals the company’s growing strength in the region and improves its ability to leverage existing regional relationships.

“Over the last months, we have focused on demonstrating our capabilities and building traction in this region, and our efforts have been fruitful.”

“I look forward to working with the excellent team at OECS and brining dependably connectivity to the people of the Eastern Caribbean.”
