Si6 can now proceed with its long-awaited drill program at the Maibele base metal project in Botswana after finally receiving approval from the liquidators of its JV partner BCL Limited.

The company has been planning to drill the project since 2021 and the approval paves the way for the finalisation of discussions with relevant government bodies including the mining and environmental departments.

Maibele contains nickel sulphide mineralisation related to ultramafic intrusions within mobile belt rocks and is broadly similar in style to other ultramafic intrusion-related mobile belt nickel discoveries such as Nova-Bollinger, Julimar and the globally significant Thompson Belt in Canada.

It hosts several compelling drill targets which were generated by the significant amounts of work carried out by Si6 Metals (ASX:SI6) such as the 2021 geophysical programs.

Resources at the project are currently estimated at 2.4Mt grading 0.72% nickel, 0.21% copper along with platinum group metals, copper and gold.

The company has also been keeping busy whilst waiting on the approvals.

In 2022, it completed soil and rock sampling, trenching and mapping on the Maibele East, Mashambe and Gobjango prospects, targeting base and precious metals.

It also investigated the prospectivity for pegmatite-hosted mineralisation such as lithium, caesium and tantalum, rare earths and gold.

Monument gold project

In Western Australia, the company recently completed an aircore drill program which follows on successful initial drilling carried out in 2021.

Monument contains multiple target styles of gold mineralisation including banded iron formations and basalt hosted mineralisation, however, significant potential exists in the intrusion hosted targets as demonstrated by nearby bulk tonnage, multi-million-ounce projects such as the 7Moz Wallaby and Mt Morgans projects.

All samples from the latest aircore drilling program have been submitted to the assay laboratory with results expected within the next fortnight.

Si6 is currently planning its next phase of aircore drilling at MGP, which is scheduled for later this quarter.

Nickel mineralisation within the Murrin Murrin ultramafic rocks are also being investigated for future work, in addition to other prospective targets for zinc, lead and copper.
