Around 13 holes for 6,000m have been drilled at Monument in a program designed to test five prospect areas comprising two felsic intrusions and three structural targets.

Phase-two drilling, carried out by Si6 Metals (ASX:Si6) on tenure directly adjacent to and along strike of Dacian Gold’s (ASX:DAC) Mt Morgans Project, intersected a wide range of prospective lithologies including granite, porphyry, gabbo, dolerite, ultramafic, sediment and felsic volcanic.

While some of the holes exceeded 100m, the deeper holes are indicative of deep weathering along major regional, mantle tapping structures which are instrumental to the development of Archean Lodge gold deposits.

“Promising” findings

Si6 chairman Patrick Holywell says that the early findings are promising.

“We are confident that turnaround times on assay results will be expedited following discussions with the laboratory,” he says. “This program was designed to test several high priority targets which we identified during the phase one program.

“In addition, we have tested structural targets at Triton, North Well and Celia.”

Korong drilling

Another 35 holes for 1,326m has been drilled at the high-priority Korong felsic intrusion and 14 holes for 684m at Aermotor, where anomalous gold mineralisation was intersected in quartz veining in previous drilling.

Analysis of the end of hole multielement geochemical data from each of these targets confirmed they are fractionated, felsic intrusives with the Korong intrusive belonging to the sanukitoid suite of evolved intrusive rocks similar to that which also hosts De Grey Mining’s (ASX:DEG) 7Moz Hemi discovery – making it a high priority target.
