Si6 has plenty of data to sift through after completing the Phase 3 aircore drilling program over four target areas at its Monument gold project in WA’s Laverton Tectonic Zone.

The 119-hole program totalling 5,636m intersected complex geology at all target areas with felsic intrusives intersected at Fred’s Well, North Well and Korong intrusion.

Besides testing for more gold at the project, which already contains a resource of 3.3Mt at 1.4g/t gold for 154,000 gold ounces, Si6 Metals’ (ASX:SI6) drilling had also tested for extensions to Glencore’s Murrin Murrin nickel and cobalt laterite mineralisation, which has been interpreted from geophysics to extend into the Monument project.

Monument contains multiple target styles of gold mineralisation including banded iron formations and basalt hosted mineralisation, however, significant potential exists in the intrusion hosted targets as demonstrated by nearby bulk tonnage, multi-million-ounce projects with surrounding projects including Wallaby (~7Moz) and Mt Morgans (~2Moz).

Fractionated, felsic intrusives have also been identified from drilling earlier in 2022 belonging to the sanukitoid suite of evolved intrusive rocks potentially similar to that which hosts De Grey Mining Limited’s (ASX:DEG) +10Moz Hemi discovery.

Final samples from the program will be submitted to ALS Laboratories in Kalgoorlie for assay with results for gold and multi-elements expected in the middle of December.

Drill observations

At Fred’s Well, drilling over the tested 750m strike length encountered promising complex geology with mafic and felsic volcanics, chert, sediment, ultramafic and intrusive porphyry intersected.

This work was also designed to target down-dip extensions to mineralised structures observed in significant historical workings which have never been drill tested until now.

Drilling also tested 1,750m of strike at North Well along an interpreted structural corridor to follow-up on wide zones of gold mineralisation – topping up at 8m grading 0.98g/t gold – intersected in the supergene horizon in May 2022.

Complex geology was also intersected with quartz-rich granite, porphyry, sediments and mafic volcanics identified with a number of chlorite-altered quartz veins present near the interpreted structure.

Meanwhile, drilling along strike and south of the Korong felsic intrusion intersected several porphyritic felsic dykes hosted in mafic volcanics with quartz veining observed along the intrusive contacts.

Drilling for potential nickel-cobalt mineralisation along the geophysically-interpreted ultramafic rock unit extending from Glencore’s Murrin Murrin operations intersected quartz-rich granite, gabbro, dolerite, amphibolite and gneiss.

Adding further interest for Si6, the high-grade metamorphic rocks (amphibolite and gneiss) coincide with the approximate position of the Celia Tectonic Lineament and will be further investigated for potential gold mineralisation.
