Si6 has wrapped up regional aircore drilling targeting high-level felsic intrusives at its Monument gold project in Western Australia.

The maiden 126-hole program totalling 4,198m is co-funded by the state government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) that refunds 50% of direct drilling costs up to a cap of $75,000.

Si6 Metals (ASX:SI6) noted that 50 of the holes intersected the targeted felsic intrusive rocks and that the samples collected from the drill program will undergo gold and multi-element assay analysis with end of hole samples analysed for whole rock geochemistry to characterise rock type.

Monument already hosts a contained resource of 154,000oz of gold at the Korong and Waihi prospects, both of which are open in all directions

“It is a great result for Si6 to have completed our maiden AC drilling program at regional syenite intrusive targets in a swift manner,” executive chairman Patrick Holywell said.

“The program was designed to focus on 60 high priority targets and it is a great result to see that over 50 of the 126 holes drilled intersected the high level felsic intrusives we were aiming for.”

The company will have to wait at least three to four weeks before initial assays from the program are released but it is certainly not sitting still.

Botswana exploration

Results from surveys started in September over the Dibete, Airstrip and Maibele North projects in Botswana to close off previously defined targets and generate targets are imminent.

Audio-frequency magnetotellurics (AMT) surveying has already been proven to be able to accurately map existing sulphide mineralisation at Maibele North while detecting several significant zones of anomalism beneath the known orebody that remain untested by drilling.

These results will be followed by drilling, which coincides neatly with the completion of aircore drilling at Monument.

Si6’s Botswana projects are certainly intriguing given that Maibele has a current resource of 2.38 million tonnes grading 0.72% nickel, 0.21% copper and 0.63 grams per tonne 4PGE+gold that remains open along strike and at depth while both Airstrip and Dibete have proven mineralisation.
