• Argent’s rock chip sampling delineates outcropping gold-silver-lead-zinc mineralisation outside the current Kempfield resource
  • Results confirm new mineralised gossan/baritic lithologies within the Kempfield NW and NE Mineralised Zones
  • New zones host the same geology and geochemical signatures as the main Kempfield deposit, one of Australia’s largest silver resources

Special Report: Rock chip sampling has delineated outcropping gold-silver-lead-zinc mineralisation outside of the defined resource at Argent Minerals’ Kempfield polymetalllic project in NSW.

The sampling over the Kempfield NW/NE Zone – a major extension of the main Kempfield deposit – was focused on delineating further mineralised extensions towards Lode 300.

Rock chip sampling at Kempfield NW returned assays of up to 117g/t silver, 0.13% lead and 0.38% zinc while Kempfield NE saw assays of up to 126g/t silver, 2.45g/t gold, 0.14% lead and 0.43% zinc.

Argent Minerals’ (ASX:ARD) sampling also discovered previously unknown gossan outcrops and baritic lithologies.

The Kempfield project currently has a resource of 63.7Mt grading 69.75g/t silver equivalent for contained silver equivalent of 142.8Moz.

Out of this global amount, Lode 300 has a resource of 11.8Mt at 54.62g/t silver equivalent, or 20.8Moz of contained silver equivalent resources.

“We are delighted that the latest surface assay results have confirmed new mineralised gossan/baritic lithologies within the Kempfield NW and NE Mineralised Zones,” ARD managing director Pedro Kastellorizos said.

“These exciting new zones host the same geology and geochemical signatures as the main mineralisation over the Kempfield deposit.

“Based on the defined mineralised dimensions, the strike of the mineralised zones surpasses the existing Kempfield JORC Resource area, elevating Kempfield’s exploration upside. We are currently drilling these newly defined mineralised zones over Kempfield NW Zone.”

Extension zones

The discovery of the Kempfield NW and NE Zones was announced in late March this year after initial rock chip sampling returned high-grade assays of up to 177g/t silver, 1.89% lead and 1.21% zinc at Kempfield NW.

This led to the company carrying out a further rock chip sampling program to define additional potential drill targets over the Kempfield NW Zone.

ARD collected 26 samples from previously untested baritic volcanic units about 200m northwest from Lode 300, delineating a mineralised zone of over 200m by 40m that extends Kempfield NW to a strike of almost 2km with an average width of 100m hosted within a gossanous barite lithology that is open to the west and northeast.

The reconnaissance program over Kempfield NE, which strikes for 1km with an average width of 100m, collected 162 rock chips samples between the Kempfield NW and NE zones about 700m northeast of Lode 300 to test the northeast extension of the previously delineated extensive gossanous outcrop.

Current and future activity

ARD is currently drilling 54 reverse circulation holes totalling ~3500m to test 13 high priority regional targets at the Kempfield NW, Sugarloaf Hill, Henry and Golden Wattle prospects outside the current resource.

This is aimed at confirming the Kempfield NW and Sugarloaf Hill prospects host VMS polymetallic-style mineralisation proximal to the Kempfield deposit and that Golden Wattle and Henry Zone host potential orogenic gold-style mineralisation.

The company is also awaiting a further 54 geochemical assay results from the Trunkey Creek gold project ~9km southeast of the Kempfield deposit.
