RareX finds promising new heavy rare earths vein at Mt Mansbridge

  • REE flags promising new HREE vein at Mt Mansbridge project in WA
  • Project shares similarities to Northern Minerals Browns Range project
  • Company plans to double down on potential drill targets

Special Report: RareX has had a great start to exploration at its Mt Mansbridge project in WA and within days found a 70m heavy rare earth bearing quartz breccia vein.

The project is one of only a few hard rock xenotime exploration projects in Australia and sits just 45km from Northern Minerals’ Browns Range project – which hosts 11.7Mt at 0.77% TREO (86% HREE).

Mt Mansbridge shares a similar geological setting to Browns Range, with drilling by Red Mountain in 2022 recording best results of 16m at 0.28% TREO, including 4m at 0.48% TREO with 1m at 1.06%.

The average MREO content was 28% and is composed of 10% DyTb and 18% NdPr.

RareX (ASX:REE) said this was the first vein discovery at Mt Mansbridge in 40 years and supported subsidiary RareXploration’s belief that the project has the geological ingredients to host a significant HREE deposit.

The company is confident that additional mineralised horizons remain undiscovered within Mt Mansbridge. Assay results from rock chips and soil sampling earlier this year are due in late July.

Potential for sizeable rare earths deposit

In the coming months REE’s plan is to double down on potential targets for drilling later in the year.

“The RareXploration team made a productive start on the Mt Mansbridge HRE project with the first xenotime mineralised vein located on the project in 40 years,” MD and CEO James Durrant said.

“Heavy rare earth elements are at the top of the critical minerals list and, as the energy transition accelerates and demand for consumer electronics continues rising, dysprosium and terbium have become bottleneck materials essential for enabling the miniaturisation, efficiency gains, and thermal stability required in next-generation technologies.

“The project will continue to be assessed over the next month with boots on the ground to finalise the plan for drill testing.”

In the meantime, the company is exploring its other assets, with a new tenement pegged at the Khaleesi project, gallium re-assaying underway at Cummins Range ahead of a planned updated resource estimate, and negotiations planned with the Central Land Council to discuss work at the Piper project.

RareX is clearly on a growth trajectory in exploration and project development including submitting a consortium proposal alongside Iluka Resources for the Mrima Hill project in Kenya.
