Patronus hits upon new large-scale gold targets at Pine Creek

  • Patronus completes Phase 1 surface sampling, defining multiple targets including one spanning 7km
  • Infill sampling has also now kicked off on high priority target areas
  • Results will guide 2026 exploration targets for drilling

Special Report: Patronus Resources is zeroing in on major gold potential at the Pine Creek project in the NT, with first results from its maiden surface sampling program lighting up several large-scale anomalies.

The largest anomaly identified covers an impressive 7km by 1.5km area, and with the bulk of results now in hand, Patronus (ASX:PTN) is gathering pace as it lines up drilling targets for 2026.

While the Pine Creek region has been explored for more than half a century, much of that past work was narrow in scope and centred on existing deposits.

Patronus has flipped the script, taking a broader, integrated approach that connects the dots across the geology to uncover new, high-quality gold targets.

The large-scale geochemical survey was completed on a broad 400-by-400 metre grid with 70% of the assays (some 3,374) already returned, outlining anomalies across the Northern Leases, Burnside North, Grove Hill and Golden Dyke areas.

Infill sampling on a tighter grid is now underway to sharpen up those targets.

Infill sampling underway

PTN managing director John Ingram said the completion of this inaugural geochemistry program represents an exciting step forward for Patronus, as much of its Pine Creek tenure has never had systematic modern exploration conducted.

“This provides an outstanding opportunity for the discovery of new gold deposits within the highly prospective Pine Creek Orogen,” Ingram said.

“In addition to gold, we are also combing through the geochemistry for base metal and uranium deposit signatures.

“The team is busy interpreting the incoming surface data and ranking targets utilising the recently completed structural mapping and geophysical compilations.

“Infill sampling is underway over key target areas with final assay results expected to be reported by the end of the year – results from these sampling programmes will help rank and prioritise targets for drilling in 2026.”

NT portfolio

The Pine Creek project sits in the heart of the Pine Creek Orogen, a gold-rich region with more than 20Moz of historical production, yet plenty of untouched ground still waiting for modern exploration.

The company’s other NT projects include the 234,000oz Fountain Head gold project, and the Hayes Creek VMS project.

In addition to these projects, Patronus holds an extensive landholding of 1,500km2 which the company considers to be highly prospective for gold, base metals and uranium.
