Special Report: Drilling commences at Abbotts Gold Project, within the Company’s flagship Garden Gully Gold Project

Approximately 30 short reverse circulation holes, with a depth of 70m and totalling 2,100m, will be drilled with the intent to test for high-grade gold potential within an arsenic-rich structure that has so far been sporadically tested.

In 2018, a competent intrusive felsic unit (dacite) was intersected by diamond hole drilling.

Ora Gold Limited (ASX: OAU) will focus its  efforts along the north-west trending mineralised splay from the main Eastern Shear Zone, between the Mount Vranizan and New Murchison King mines, which combined have produced over 41,000 ounces of gold at an average of 31 grams per tonne.

Garden Gully Project and Abbotts Gold Tenements

The gold project at Garden Gully has been wholly-owned by Ora Gold since 2016 and was expanded with the acquisition of the Crown Prince lease in 2017 and then the Abbotts ground in late 2018.

The holding covers an area of approximately 530 square metres and includes 85% of the prospective Abbotts Greenstone Belt (AGB). The AGB is situated within the highly productive Youanmi terrane of the Murchison district and there are strong indicators the region is endowed with gold mineralisation.

Ora Gold tenements within the Abbotts Greenstone Belt comprise two granted mining licences, two mining lease applications, 21 granted prospecting licences and 7 granted exploration licences, covering around 309 sqkm.

Ora Gold Getting Active

The announcement of drilling at Abbotts Gold Project comes just a month after the release of positive progress regarding its Crown Prince gold deposit and Lydia Prospect.

Recent drilling at the nearby Lydia Prospect delivered outstanding shallow hits, with the suggestion there is potential for open-ended deeper mineralisation in the primary zone.

The Company anticipates further drilling to continue at the Lydia Prospect in 2021, while numerous other partially-drilled gold prospects remain in the pipeline for Ora Gold.
