New World’s Antler deposit has more copper to the south

Special Report: New World’s Antler deposit in Arizona is looking the goods with the first hole testing the southern strike extension intersecting thick, high grade copper.

The 22.4m intersection returned a grade of 1.13 per cent copper, 4.08 per cent zinc, 0.42 per cent lead and 18.6 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, or 2.2 per cent copper equivalent, from a depth of 290.96m.

This includes two higher grade intervals of 8.6m at 2.28 per cent copper, 3.93 per cent zinc, 0.79 per cent lead and 33.8g/t silver (3.2 per cent copper equivalent) from 296.57m and 5.4m at 0.88 per cent copper, 9.67 per cent zinc, 0.07 per cent lead and 5.9g/t silver (3.4 per cent copper equivalent) from 307.9m.

New World Resources’ (ASX:NWC) managing director Michael Haynes says the results are an exciting start to 2021 as they bode well for the continued growth of the deposit.

“Assays are pending for a further eight completed holes, three drill rigs are operating on site, including drilling from a new pad that has been prepared to test down-dip extensions of the deposit, below the thick, very high-grade shoot we discovered late last year,” he added.

“We have plenty of work in progress as we close in on a maiden Resource estimate.”

The pending assays are from holes drilled to follow up on potential extensions of high-grade mineralisation and to confirm historical drilling results at the southern end of the deposit.

Copper drilling

The success of the first hole along strike is a major positive with the company noting that while mineralisation at Antler outcrops over 750m of strike, most previous drilling has been concentrated along an area of just over 200m at the northern end.

New World noted that the high grade hit in the first hole confirms the potential to substantially expand the resource base by discovering more thick mineralisation along strike from the historical workings.

This is in addition to the ongoing resource drilling that seeks to extend the high-grade mineralisation at depth below the historical workings.

Separately, drilling in a poorly tested portion of the main thick-high grade shoot of mineralisation has returned a high grade hit of 6.25m at 3.03 per cent copper, 9.4 per cent zinc, 0.92 per cent lead, 35 g/t silver and 0.29 g/t gold (5.3 per cent copper equivalent) from 300.2m.

New World notes that the reverse circulation rig is drilling multiple pre-collars from the drill pad that it constructed in late December 2020 to facilitate deeper drill testing.

These pre-collar holes will be completed with diamond core tails to evaluate the down-plunge depth extensions of the Antler deposit.
