Miramar has started drilling at the Glandore project in WA, chasing down historic drilling at the Glandore East target where up to 6m at 29.6g/t gold was intersected.

Glandore East is at the edge of a salt lake, and remains open at depth and along a strike length of around 700m.

Miramar (ASX:M2R) interprets the strike of the gold mineralisation to be NE-trending, like the nearby Majestic and Imperial deposits which, if correct, means the mineralisation also remains open along strike in either direction.

The diamond drilling will be completed by a lightweight track-mounted diamond drill rig and will comprise 7 holes for approximately 1,000m but may be extended if initial results look promising.

Aiming to outline a deposit

Executive chairman Allan Kelly said the company was excited about finally being able to test the Glandore East target.

“Glandore East was one of the highest-ranking drill targets in the Miramar IPO Prospectus but we were delayed in testing it due to the inability to secure a drill rig capable of drilling on the salt lake,” he said.

“Like many gold prospects in Western Australia, including the Andy Well prospect before we started drilling there with Doray Minerals in 2010, our Glandore East target has a number of significant gold intersections but did not meet the economic threshold of the previous owner and was simply left behind,” he added.

“We believe that, with a bit of luck, Miramar could quickly outline a deposit at Glandore East capable of being developed with the existing and/or proposed gold processing infrastructure nearby.”

Multiple drill programs planned

The Glandore East drilling is just one of several drilling campaigns scheduled for August-October, across four separate projects, along with A 12,000m aircore drilling campaign at the Boorara North target (Gidji JV).

First pass aircore drilling of folded BIF targets at the Randalls Project, 70 km east of Kalgoorlie is also planned, as well as aircore drilling of potential IOCG targets at the Whaleshark Project, near Onslow.
