Locksley Resources serves up doubles on expanding US critical minerals footprint

  • Locksley stakes 249 additional claims in California’s Mojave region, doubling footprint to more than 40km2
  • New claims adjacent to Mountain Pass rare earths mine and target antimony, rare earths and polymetallic minerals
  • Company will complete claim registration and begin systematic exploration programs across expanded tenure

Special Report: Locksley Resources has doubled down on its US critical minerals strategy, staking 249 additional claims abutting its existing tenure as well as claims hosting the Mountain Pass rare earths mine in California’s Mojave region.

The additional claims in three separate packages double the company’s strategic footprint in the region to more than 40km2.

The larger southeast claims encompass the favourable gneissic host rocks and associated carbonatite system of the Mountain Pass rare earth mine while the northern claims are directly along strike and proximal to Dateline Resources’ (ASX:DTR) Colosseum gold project.

Importantly they strengthen Locksley Resources’ (ASX:LKY, OTCQB:LKYRF) position within one of the most prospective critical minerals regions in the US by securing additional acreage adjacent to the company’s recently identified antimony, rare earth elements and polymetallic mineralisation.

This expands the company’s exploration pipeline for these critical minerals.

“This expansion materially enhances our strategic footprint in the Mojave Corridor, a region central to US critical minerals security,” technical director Julian Woodcock said.

“With additional ground abutting our existing claims and adjoining the MP Materials Mountain Pass larger claim package, we are exceptionally well positioned to advance a diversified pipeline of exploration and downstream opportunities across antimony, rare earths, other critical minerals and precious metals potential.”

Prospective claims

The southeast claims host substantial regional north to northwest striking structures evident in the magnetic geophysics datasets.

These transgress across the areas staked which conceptually have the potential to host pathways for REE-bearing carbonatites and be related to other styles of mineralisation.

Meanwhile, the northern claims are directly adjacent to areas where the US Geological Survey’s (USGS) geochemical database indicates that polymetallic and precious metals occurrences are present.

Several of the new claims also directly abut MP Materials Mountain Pass claims, underlining the strategic significance of Locksley’s footprint within the corridor.

The position of the claims improves Locksley’s potential for exploration discovery and long-term commercialisation pathways, including downstream processing partnerships in line with US government priorities for supply chain resilience.

Next steps

LKY has completed the claim staking activities and has initiated the filing process for the new claims with the required Federal and State agencies.

No competing claims were identified in the areas staked and the company is confident that the ground rights will be confirmed in the adjudication process, however the process needs to be completed until mineral rights are formally granted.

It will also begin compiling and integrating new geological data from the expanded tenure, design stream sediment and rock chip sampling programs across the area and carry out systematic exploration targeting high-priority antimony, REE and polymetallic anomalies.

Additionally, the company will advance permitting activities across the consolidated claim blocks to fast-track drilling approvals.
