Lefroy has wasted no time in following up on recent ‘outstanding’ gold hits at its Burns prospect beneath Lake Randall with the restart of aircore drilling.

The program will infill and expand on the near-surface hits including 8m at 7.31 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from just 20m and 16m at 4.04g/t gold from 20m – both of which sit within broader intersections hosted within diorite porphyry.

Lefroy Exploration (ASX:LEX) will drill 55 holes totalling about 2,200m on a 40m by 40m pattern to provide coverage over and around the two intersections.

Results from this program will guide follow-up deeper reverse circulation drilling with samples prioritised for analysis based on lithologies intersected with initial results expected in April.

Assays are also pending from an additional 301 aircore holes that were drilled over a broad area at Lake Randall since December 2021.

These include 71 holes drilled to the north of holes LEFA1088 and LEFA1089, which returned the two top hits.

“We are excited to be back out drilling on Lake Randall to expand the Burns geochemical footprint to provide the vectors for follow up deeper evaluation with RC drilling,” managing director Wade Johnson said.

“We continue to test the limits of this unique intrusion related Cu Au system beneath Lake Randall and this footprint AC drilling campaign that commenced in November last year has already yielded exceptional results like that in LEFA1089, with a strong pipeline of results to follow.”

Burns and the Lefroy project

The Burns prospect is situated within the company’s namesake project covering 621sqkm between Kalgoorlie and Norseman.

It is located close to Gold Fields’ St Ives gold camp, which includes the Invincible gold mine in Lake Lefroy, and Silver Lake Resources’ (ASX:SLR) Daisy Milano gold mining operations.

The Western Lefroy tenements are subject to a farm-in by Gold Fields, which can earn up to 70% in the package by spending up to $25m on exploration within six years of the commencement date on 7 June 2018.
