Special Report: Koonenberry Gold is going all out at its Enmore project in northeast NSW with an aggressive 10,000m drill program underway to test for extensions of Sunnyside mineralisation and new targets.
Phase 2 drilling will test updip and downdip positions as well as mineralisation along strike to the east, which remains open.
This is aimed at extending broad and high-grade results such as 170m grading 1.75g/t gold from 77m, including 18.3m at 9.95g/t from 172.9m – and 172.9m at 2.07g/t Au from 171m, including 25m at 5.23g/t from 194m in Phase 1 drilling.
Koonenberry Gold (ASX:KNB) will also carry out discovery drilling along the 2km prospective Sunnyside Shear Zone where four priority drill targets have been identified that may represent repetitions of the Sunnyside mineralisation.
“Our first phase of drilling at Sunnyside produced some exceptional results which point to a significant emerging gold discovery story with standalone bulk tonnage potential as well as high-grade gold at depth,” managing director Dan Power said.
“The mineralised zone has been shown to extend from surface to +300m vertically, over an estimated ~75m true width and along ~260m strike.
“Phase two drilling will look to extend the mineralised zone up dip, down dip and along strike, particularly towards the east.”
Power added the discovery drilling would test priority targets along the 2km prospective shear zone from Sunnyside to Hand in Hand, that could be repetitions of “Sunnyside-style” gold mineralisation.
“Four target areas have been defined with coincident gold and arsenic soil anomalies, favourable geology and structures at the contact between the granite and sediments,” he said.
“High-grade rock chips up to 17.55g/t gold and limited historical drilling with anomalous gold add to the prospectivity of these targets.”

Enmore project
The 302km2 Enmore project sits within the underexplored New England Gold Belt, which hosts the 1.7Moz Hillgrove gold-antimony mine, the 8Moz Ravenswood gold mine, the 7.7Moz gold and 0.36Mt copper Mt Morgan mine, and the 2.5Moz Cracow gold mine.
Besides the highly prospective Sunnyside prospect, the Borah fault is known to host high-grade intersections while historical workings are present at Sherwood, Queen of Sheba and Lone Hand.
Sunnyside occurs along the Sunnyside Shear Zone and has seen a modest amount of near-surface historical exploration, with deeper drilling only conducted in recent years.
This led to the discovery of significant gold mineralisation over extensive widths as well as high grade zones at depth.
KNB’s first drill program delineated mineralisation extending away from the granite-sediment contact for ~75m in true width, ~260m along strike and from surface to over 300m vertically.
Mineralisation remains open in multiple directions, including along the Sunnyside Shear Zone, with indications that grade may increase with depth.
Looking forward
Phase 2 drilling is expected to exceed 10,000m and will run into 2026 with results to be reported as they become available during this time.
“This is an exciting time for Koonenberry shareholders and we look forward to building on the success of our phase one drilling with results demonstrating the potential scale, grade and upside of this emerging discovery story,” Power said.
Additional soil sampling has been carried out along the Borah Fault, a parallel shear zone to the Sunnyside Shear Zone.
This returned very encouraging results that will require further investigation and drill testing.
