Special Report: Green Critical Minerals and Komex Carbon Corporation have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to introduce GCM’s very high density (VHD) thermal management technology to the South Korean market.
Green Critical Minerals (ASX:GCM) has received positive interest in its VHD technology from the South Korean technology and electronics sector and the MoU will be a valuable opportunity to develop prototypes for the new market.
“We see great potential in GCM’s VHD technology and believe it will provide a good opportunity for the Korean technology and industrial markets,” Komex CEO and president Dr Kyusik Suh said.
“Based on this MoU, we look forward to both companies collaborating to achieve positive results.”
The MoU is a legally binding framework under which GCM and Komex will partner for a 36-month term.
They will establish a cooperative relationship to jointly develop end user products for the technology, electronics and industrial markets.
Green Critical Minerals managing director Clinton Booth said the company was impressed by Komex’s more than 30-year history and excellent reputation within South Korea for quality and reliability.
“This MoU solidifies the discussions between GCM and Komex to partner and deliver VHD products into the technology, electronics and industrial markets in South Korea,” he said.
“It has been the result of the extensive testing and R&D conducted throughout the year, which has laid a strong foundation for discussions with customers such as Komex.
“Validating our technology is essential to securing agreements such as the one we are announcing today.”
Commercialising VHD technology
This year Green Critical Minerals has focused on bringing its VHD graphite heat sink technology to production, developing it across several testing environments.
The company’s extensive testing has demonstrated VHD delivers superior thermal performance compared to conventional materials such as aluminium and copper, at a mass market price point, while being effective, energy efficient and customisable.
GCM has been seeking to expand its commercial footprint, having recently begun the process of entering the Chinese market as well.
Managing director Clinton Booth said the MoU was an important milestone for the company.
“Not only is the signing of this MoU our first international customer agreement, it is also a continuation of us achieving the milestones we have set,” he said.
“We set and announced a target of entering into commercial agreements in late 2025, as part of our overall target of first revenue in H1 CY 2026.
“The signing of this MoU, and partnering with a reputable company such as Komex, continues our confidence in achieving our first revenue target.”
Booth said he was excited about GCM’s future, especially considering how much progress the company had achieved in a relatively short amount of time.
“We have been patient, and importantly diligent, in ensuring we have met the requirements for commercialisation and align with the expectations of our potential customers, with milestones such as this MoU another significant step in the commercialisation of VHD,” he said.
“I look forward to sharing our progress as we continue to deliver on our commercialisation strategy and strengthen engagement across our global pipeline of potential customers and partners.”
