Special Report: Golden Rim Resources is chasing high grade gold at the 1.4moz (and growing) Kouri gold project in Burkina Faso.

The first diamond hole at the Diabatou prospect has intersected several zones of visible gold, Golden Rim Resources (ASX:GMR) told investors today.

The hole was a ‘twin’ to a recent reverse circulation hole that returned a stunning intersection of 1m at 783.8 grams per tonne gold from 44m within a wider zone of 7m at 121.2g/t gold from 41m.

Anything above 5g/t is generally considered high grade.

This diamond hole was drilled to confirm the orientation of the bonanza-grade mineralisation prior to the company starting step-out drilling, in a bid to expand the mineralised zone.

Diabatou, about 10km from the company’s 1.4 million ounce Kouri deposit, was recently discovered within the Margou permit which Golden Rim had acquired due to its belief that Kouri extended northeast.

This is a target untouched by previous exploration, which means the discovery upside is massive.

A second hole to test the depth extent of the same high-grade mineralisation along with the up-dip (or upwards inclination) extent of a second zone of high grade mineralisation – 4m at 23.2g/t gold from 67m – is currently underway.

First assays from this major drilling program of about 100 diamond and reverse circulation holes are expected in about three weeks.

The company has also kicked off a shallow 3750-hole auger drilling campaign at Kouri; starting at Diabatou, this will be systematically extended to cover various other target areas in the Margou permit.

Golden Rim has also started a ground magnetic and induced polarisation geophysical survey at the Diabatou prospect.

This will be conducted over a three to four-month period and will also be extended through the Margou and Goueli permits.
