Lithium Energy says results from geophysics surveys at its Solaroz lithium brine project in Argentina confirm the presence of “significant” quantities of conductive brines.

It’s kind of a big deal because conductive brines – like those currently being mined by Allkem (ASX:AKE) in adjoining concessions – are a key pathfinder for the occurrence of lithium in the Olaroz Salar.

The passive seismic and transcient electromagnetic geophysics (TEM) surveys showed the thickness of the interpreted brine within the Solaroz concession area of up to 300m and to depths up to 500m below surface.

Lithium Energy (ASX:LEL) believes it is highly encouraging for the potential establishment of a significant maiden JORC Mineral Resource for the project and plans to kick off a 5,000m drill program shortly.

Priority targets flagged ahead of drilling

Priority drill targets have now been established for an initial 5,000m drilling program which will test the extent and grades of lithium mineralisation, porosity and flow rates across the layer(s) of conductive brines which have been identified by the geophysics.

Site preparation works are underway, with the drilling rig expected to be mobilised to site shortly.

Results support exploration target

Notably, the geophysics is consistent with the Exploration Target previously announced by the company of 1.5 to 8.7 million tonnes of contained Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE).

Lithium Energy says the results also support the conceptual geological model for Solaroz, which posits that the geological structures which host lithium rich brines – currently being mined by Allkem at the Olaroz Salar – extend under the Solaroz concession area.
