Dr Amanda Buckingham moves up the golden staircase into MD role at Anova
Anova has appointed its executive director and veteran geophysicist Dr Amanda Buckingham as its managing director to lead its gold exploration efforts.
Dr Buckingham has been involved in mineral exploration for more than 25 years, and in 2007 founded industry leading geophysical group Fathom Geophysics, which developed world leading technology for targeting under cover that increases the chances of mineral discovery.
Her early career spans major mining companies, including Rio Tinto, and multiple listed junior exploration businesses, and she has wide ranging exploration experience in Australia and North America encompassing both gold and base metals.
Dr Buckingham was also a founder of Cygnus Gold and Desert Metals as well as a research fellow at the University of Western Australia.
Anova Metals (ASX:AWV) chairman Eddie Rigg said the company was delighted that Dr Buckingham had accepted the invitation to be its managing director.
“Amanda has a great combination of enthusiasm, unquestioned technical excellence and strong desire to generate enormous shareholder wealth. We have big plans for Anova. Amanda will be integral to those plans,” he added.
Her appointment comes as the company expands the footprint of its recently acquired Warriedar gold project in Western Australia’s Murchison region.
The new tenement E49/2743 adjoins the south-east extent of the existing tenure and increases the total Warriedar land package to over 90km2.
“The additional tenement gives us the southern extent of the greenstone sequence as mapped, and as interpreted from the geophysical data,” Dr Buckingham noted.
“The historic gold mining activities at Warriedar, as well as the recent high-grade drilling results, support the high prospectivity ranking we have assigned to this greenstone sequence, particularly proximal to north-north-west shear zones.
“We plan to explore this tenement as part of the broader Warriedar Project.”
Anova plans to carry out a drill program to test the gold mineralisation extension at Reid’s Ridge and other prospects identified along the belt.
