Special Report: Azure’s Andover nickel-copper project continues to deliver with a fifth hole intersecting more massive sulphides.

The latest hole intersected a 20.8m interval containing significant nickel-copper mineralisation with multiple zones of semi-massive to massive sulphides from a depth of 325.2m.

This strongly mineralised zone is followed by another 23.4m zone of weakly disseminated nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation that further supports the potential for Andover to host a substantial body of mineralisation.

Andover has been a boon for Azure Minerals (ASX:AZS) since its discovery in October, prompting multiple re-ratings of the company’s stock with each successful drill hole.

ANDD005 was drilled to test updip extensions of the 38m wide zone of nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation intersected in the fourth hole within the eastern part of the extensive VC7 conductor.

Portable XRF readings taken on site confirmed the presence of significant grades of nickel and copper, though this is generally not considered to be as reliable as lab assays in reflecting the amount of contained mineralisation.

The company added that assay results are pending for the third to fifth holes drilled at Andover while downhole electromagnetic surveying at the fourth hole has confirmed and validated the VC7 conductor.

Further work

Diamond drilling at Andover is continuing with the sixth hole underway to test the downdip extensions of mineralisation intersected in the fourth and fifth holes.

This will be followed by step-out drilling to the west-northwest to test the strike extent of VC7.

Follow-up downhole EM surveying will then provide a greater definition of the vertical/downdip extent of the VC7 conductor.

And there is more to come.

While drilling to date has been remarkably successful, EM surveying has identified 12 separate conductor anomalies within the Andover project area.

Drilling to test the highest priority conductors is being planned and subject to rig availability, is likely to commence in the first quarter of 2021.
