Weekly small cap wrap: Who’s going back to school?
News
News
Its that time of year again when summer is over in the Northern hemisphere and schools and colleges resume their year. If you have kids you may hate the school holidays but at least in Australia we have some time off in summer.

But what if you don’t have kids? Don’t worry you haven’t been forgotten.

AJ Lucas (ASX:AJL) +127%
If you thought the Brits didn’t do gas fracking, think again. The government’s release of a paper confirming it was in favour of it was good enough. But a well AJ Lucas co-owned with a local explorer resumed fracking. Flow results are not expected until 2020, although all went according to plan.
Race Oncology (ASX:RAC) +51%
Capital raises are rarely good news. Such companies are often bleeding cash and have to discount their shares to raise money. But if a major investor agrees to buy in at a premium, the company must be doing something right. Daniel Tillett, the founder of Nucleics made up $561,000 of Race’s $1.45m capital raise. Biotechs can be highly risky, but at least this company’s drug has been trialled before, until it was a victim of a big-pharma merger.
Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) +92%
When you’re trying to negotiate a sale and the deal is going nowhere there’s nothing like a more keen buyer to move things along. Cazaly have sought to sell its iron ore project and it got a buyer who offered $20 million in cash for the project. It will also get a royalty of 50c for every dry metric tonne of iron ore extracted following the first 10 million dry metric tonnes. Unsurprisingly, Cazaly agreed and to say shareholders were happy was an understatement.

Stemify (ASX:SF1) -72%
To be fair, this company was only trading on Friday and completed a capital consolidation. Prior to that it had been suspended for five months. The company provides STEM education solutions as well as 3D printing. It did re-enter the ASX with $2.25m more cash and will settle its debts and further develop its products. But now that shareholders had a chance to get out they took it.
Donaco (ASX:DNA) -34%
If you thought the saga surrounding Crown was dramatic enough, think again. Donaco has been battling Cambodian casino leasee Lee Hoe for terminating its lease. At first glance it seems reasonable because Donaco didn’t pay them. But listen to Donaco’s side of the story: Lee Hoe didn’t have a bank account, instead they came around and took cash, but eventually stopped coming for it. Hence they couldn’t pay. This week a court ruled the lease was entitled to be terminated. The company said it will appeal and in the mean time its business as usual but shareholders think otherwise.
Monash IVF (ASX: MVF) -27%
Five IVF doctors that referred their patients to Monash will now leave and set up their own IVF clinic. Collectively they generated $5.9m in revenue for the company. The company still has around 100 specialists and most others are subject to restraint provisions. It admitted revenue would be impacted but it had plans to mitigate any impact on revenue.
