It’s not COVID-19 that’s forcing Gondola drivers to restrict the number of passengers, it’s fat tourists.
Gondola tours in Venice have reduced the maximum number of passengers on smaller boats from six to five because “overweight” tourists were causing water to enter the vessel.
“Tourists are now overweight. From some countries, bombs load [onto the boats]. And when [the boat] is fully loaded, the hull sinks and water enters,” The Guardian quoted substitute gondoliers association president Raoul Roveratto as saying.

Traka’s decision to give up a 20 per cent free-carried interest in lithium rights for 100 per cent of the gold rights at the Mt Cattlin North Tenements proved to be hugely popular with its shareholders.
The Mt Cattlin North Tenements had a long history of gold mining and exploration, with 18 separate small-scale mines that mined a reported 23,006 tonnes of ore grading 24.56 grams per tonne gold.
Immuron (ASX:IMC) +139%
Shares in Immuron jumped on the back of news that one of its drug candidates might help with COVID-19 symptoms.
A petri dish assessment of IMM-124E demonstrated neutralising activity against the virus, meaning it was able to inhibit replication.
