As the Australian market marks a strong week and reddit stock followers bemoan the fall in GameStop shares, one punter has made use of part of his winnings from betting against short sellers to benefit his community.

The 20-year old college student donated six portable Nintendo Switch Lite game consoles – incidentally purchased from GameStop – to the Children’s Minnesota Hospital, saying it was important to pay forward his own good fortune.

Hunter Kahn will use his remaining profit to pay off his tuition costs at Cornell University.

The ASX200 is up 0.83 per cent this morning to 6,821.4 points while the small caps index has climbed 0.9 per cent to 3,186.3 points.

 

ASX SMALL CAP WINNERS

Rent.Com.Au Limited (ASX:RNT) +364%

Shares in the rental market products company rocketed this week after tech entrepreneur Bevan Slattery took the lion’s share of a $2.75m capital raising.

The investor, who has a proven track record of boosting shares, said Rent.com.au had great potential to be a disruptive platform with the ability to scale.

Emperor Energy (ASX:EMP) +139%

Emperor is another big gainer on no news, prompting the ASX to slap it with a price query.

The company said in response that it wasn’t aware of any news that might prompt the share price gain.

Oneview Healthcare (ASX:ONE) +133%

Rounding out our featured gainers is Oneview, which climbed after signing a distribution agreement with Samsung to deliver bedside digital services for patients in the United States.
