Stockhead’s Top 10 at 10, published at ~10.30am each trading day, highlights the best (and worst) performing ASX stocks in morning trade using live data.

It’s a short, sharp update to help frame the trading day by showing the biggest movers in percentage terms.

The market opens at 10am (eastern time) and the data is taken at 10:15am, once every ASX stock has started trading.

The ASX has opened higher for the first day of December on the back of a strong rally in New York.  By 10:30am AEDT, the ASX 200 was up by 1.07%.

Wall Street surged higher after US Federal Reserve chair boss Jerome Powell signalled the pace of rate hikes in the US will slow down starting this month.

Bond yields dropped and equities surged on his comments – the S&P 500 was up by 2.10%, the Dow by 1.32% and tech-heavy Nasdaq by 3.10%.

Powell explained that inflation in the US remains too high, but rate hikes must be slowed down because prior rate increases have yet to take their full effect.
