Consumer electronics company TTA Holdings (ASX:TTA) shot higher by more than 140% in morning trade, before going into a trading halt pending a further announcement.

Shortly after 1pm EST the company made its announcement, advising the ASX it wasn’t aware of any information that would prompt such a surge. After that, the stock closed at 5.1c for an intraday gain of 75%.

For TTA — which distributes TEAC brand products in the Australian market — it marks the third share price surge so far this year.

Similar gains in February and March were followed by rapid declines, as the stock continues to trade in a volatile range below 10c.

Gains in the resources sector were led by Pacific Nickel Mines (ASX:PNM), which closed 28% higher after announcing some strong drilling results at its ‘Jejevo’ nickel DSO (direct shipping ore) project in the Solomon Islands.
