The week ahead

Key events in Australia will kick off on Tuesday when the RBA relseases the minutes from its July meeting. That will be followed by a speech from RBA governor Phil Lowe called “COVID 19, the Labour Market and Public-sector Balance Sheets”.

Then on Thursday, all eyes will be on the Federal Government when it provides its first update on the economic the economic and fiscal outlook since the pandemic began.

The Westpac economics team says it expects the government to announce an additional $50bn in stimulus support measures, with $24bn allocated to the JobKeeper payments program.
