We all know we shouldn’t drink and drive, but apparently now you shouldn’t drink and walk.

According to research done by RAC Queensland, drinking and walking was a factor in six pedestrian deaths.

The markets unfortunately weren’t any more helpful, with the ASX200 down 1.27 per cent, or 86 points, to 6,718 points, while the ASX Small Ordinaries slipped 1 per cent, or 30 points, to 2,917 points.

 

GOING UP

Volt Power Group (ASX:VPR) gained 50 per cent, while cloud-based software company Reffind (ASX:RFN) was the next biggest mover with a 33.3 per cent jump – both on no news.

Reffind did, however, announce on Monday the departure of Eugene Loy as a director. Loy is being replaced by Joshua Quinn.

Twenty Seven Co (ASX:TSC) continued its run up with a nearly 17 per cent share price hike following last week’s news of a high-grade shallow gold discovery at its Rover project.

GOING DOWN

None of the stocks that headed south today had any news to report.

However, Gibb River Diamonds (ASX:GIB) did give back some of the recent gains it scored after it revealed it had picked up the previously closed Ellendale diamond mine in Western Australia.

The Ellendale mine was previously owned by Kimberley Diamonds.

When it was in production, the mine along with Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine in the same region accounted for a third of global annual diamond production.
