Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Monday January 7:

The ASX Small Ords was up 46 points or 2 per cent to 2,472.4 at 12.20pm AEST.

GOING UP

Shares in cancer biotech Immutep (ASX:IMM) rose as much as 16 per cent to 3.6c this morning after it revealed its flagship drug ‘efti’ would be used in cancer vaccine trials with a subsidiary of Japanese tech giant NEC Corp.

The new deal with CLYTIMIC will “promote the development and application of therapeutic cancer peptide vaccines discovered using NEC’s advanced artificial intelligence technology”.

Magnetic Resources (ASX:MAU) shares rocketed 36 per cent before lunch to 17c as it found a “significantly sized” 2km long soil geochemical anomaly.

Magnetic said the gold hit was “highly prospective”.

REVA Medical (ASX:RVA) shares shot up after it reported penetration into seven new countries. The stock rose 21 per cent on Monday morning to 20c, but is still well off the highs of 2016 that saw it reach $1.30.

On Monday it said it had secured commercial distribution deals in six Eastern Europe countries and Russia for the Fantom Encore bio-scaffold.

The share price of Cervantes (ASX:CVS) headed north this morning and it was all on news the gold explorer had finished drill testing “bonanza grade gold” at its Albury Heath project in Western Australia.

One trade of more than 100,000 shares worth just $939 sent Cervantes’ share price up almost 30 per cent on Monday morning to 0.9c.

Metalsearch (ASX:MSE) shares are down 10 per cent to 0.9c on the back of no news.

However, there’s been action behind the scenes — Metalsearch had to answer a price query from the ASX late on Friday after its shares jumped from 0.7c to 1c. It said it had no explanation.
