Another day, another naked Brexit protest.

There was more voting deadlock in the UK House of Commons overnight, as Britain continues to lurch towards the Brexit cliff.

Adding to the drama, a bunch of activists glued their hands to the public gallery and showed their bare buttocks to the chamber. They were later arrested for “outraging public decency”.

Back to stocks, and a positive session on US markets helped buoy the local bourse this morning, ahead of two key events with the RBA’s interest rate announcement followed by tonight’s federal Budget.

The ASX Small Ords climbed 21 points to a reading of 2,780.90 at 12pm AEST, good enough for a 0.76 per cent gain.

WINNERS

As is often the case, there were a couple of big percentage gains among the minnows, led by Alloy Resources (AYR), which jumped 50 per cent to 0.3 cents per share.

It followed an exploration update on the company’s farm-in agreement with Rio Tinto for the Telfer gold deposit in Paterson Province, WA.

Bounty Oil & Gas (ASX: BUY) was the morning’s second-best performer, up 33 per cent to 0.4 cents on no news.

Elsewhere, uranium play Marenica Energy (ASX: MEY) posted a 25 per cent gain to 13 cents, after announcing at the end of last week that it had secured a strategic uranium licence in Namibia.

LOSERS

Inca Minerals (ASX: ICG) came back to earth with a 20 per cent fall to 0.4 cents, one day after jumping by 25 per cent following news of an earn-in agreement with large-cap miner South32.

The rest of the major falls were seen among various penny stocks in the resources sector, with no major news of note that would have driven investors to hit the sell button.
