Shares in cyber security company WhiteHawk (ASX:WHK) have nearly tripled after the company became the United States government’s latest cyber risk consultant.

They’re a cloud-based cyber security exchange platform that offers virtual consultations. Its shares jumped 150 per cent to an intraday high of 10c.

It told investors it will provide a tailored version of its 360 Cyber Risk Framework service to various US government departments so they can beef up defences against attacks on their supply chains.

Living Cell Technologies (ASX:LCT) says its Parkinson’s phase 2b clinical trial has produced some mixed results — the brain implant worked for some but not for others.

Investors responded well to the news, sending the stock up 47 per cent to an intraday high of 7.5c.

The initial analysis of data from 18 months of follow-ups showed “statistically significant improvement” in patients who received 80 microcapsules of the drug dubbed NTCELL.

But there was no benefit observed in patients who had 120 capsules implanted. In fact, there was evidence of inflammation “which may have compromised efficacy in this group”.

The ASX’s newest pot stock Althea (ASX:AGH) has gained a manufacturing licence, taking its total haul to three.

The stock opened 27 per cent higher on Friday morning at 49c.

Shares in Australian Mines (ASX:AUZ) rose 23 per cent to an intraday high of 4.8c on the back of news it is collaborating with the Amrita Centre for Research and Development on work being conducted around the use of scandium in the next generation metal hydride batteries and hydrogen storage applications.

$1.4 million worth of shares traded hands on the news.

GOING DOWN

King River Copper (ASX:KRC) says its flagship vanadium-titanium project is going to cost $2-2.5 billion — and investors sent the company down more than 35 per cent to 3.6c before midday.

The explorer released an underwhelming baseline study for its Speewah vanadium-titanium-iron project in Western Australia.

But eight pages into the study, the explorer admitted that initial up-front capital costs would be in the billions.
