Politics aside, ‘Bulldozer Boris’ needs to stay away from any high-powered farm equipment.
Or kids sport.
Yesterday, the US Fed Reserve left the all-important benchmark interest rate unchanged, citing a strong job market, and rising economic activity and household spending.
In short, mission accomplished, says Commsec. A record 11-year economic expansion continues with low unemployment and low inflation.
Looking ahead, Fed policymakers expect no change in interest rate settings over 2020.
Commsec believes the Australian Reserve Bank will be comforted by the US Federal Reserve decision.
“The world’s biggest economy is in good shape and doesn’t need slowing down or speeding up,” it says.
“The main uncertainty ahead is the proposed US tariff hike on $US160 billion ($232.5 billion) of Chinese goods. The tariff hike is scheduled for Sunday.
“The other event to watch is the UK election result on Friday.”
Which seems to be the news impacting local markets this morning, with the ASX 200 down 0.58 per cent to 6,714 points and the ASX Small Ords down 0.21 per cent to 2,856 points.
Things are going very nicely for personal lender and credit provider MoneyMe (ASX:MME), which listed on the ASX this morning.
The fintech is currently up ~30 per cent to $1.62 per share in morning trade.
It joins a number of fintechs that have listed in 2019, including Splitit (ASX:SPT), Sezzle (ASX:SZL) and Tyro Payments (ASX:TYR), which have all enjoyed stellar gains post-listing.

Over the past four months Redbubble (ASX:RBL) shares have been on a tear – nearly hitting $2 – before a trading update dampened spirits this morning.
Redbubble, which serves independent artists, says the company’s marketplace was growing — but at only 2 per cent year-on-year which is “below expectations”.
That sent the stock plummeting 41 per cent (or 75c) in morning trade to $1.05 per share. Ouch.
