Lithium wannabe Black Mountain Resources (ASX:BMZ) quadrupled in price on Thursday after the tiny phosphate producer announced it was heading to the Congo to explore for the popular battery metal.
Black Mountain’s spectacular share price gain — it finished up 237 per cent for the week after briefly quadrupling on the day of the announcement — came after news it had picked up an option for a project near AVZ Minerals’ (ASX:AVZ) massive Manono lithium project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
AVZ — lead by battery metals talisman Klaus Eckhof — has enjoyed a 780 per cent rise in its shares over the past year.
Online gaming platform Esports Mogul (ASX:ESH) put on 31 per cent for the week after announcing it would launch in Latin America under a deal with regional game publisher Axeso5.
Mogul Arena will be the exclusive esports partner for Axeso5 in the region, rolling out in 7000 cyber cafes and gaining marketitg exposure to 14 million gamers.
ESports reported this week that Mogul Arena has 273,425 registered users — up 390 per cent after marketing campaigns in Asia.
Mogul Arena will go live in Latin America in Q2 2018.
The stock finished the week up 31 per cent at 1.7c. Its 52-week high is 2.3c.
Athena Resources (ASX:AHN) soared 77 per cent this week after inking a native title deal for its Byro iron ore project, which will pave the way for the grant of the mining leases.
Athena’s shares jumped 80 per cent on Friday afternoon to trade at 5.4c – a new 52-week high. The shares closed at 5.3.
The granting of the mining leases — expected later this month — is a condition of the $20 million sale of the Byro project in Western Australia to Hong Kong’s Brilliant Glory Industrial Corp.
Under the deal, which was struck in January 2016, Athena will get a royalty of $2 per tonne of iron ore sold from the project.
Lithium explorer Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) started on the recovery path this week after shareholders rushed for the exit following lower-than-expected lithium levels at its flagship project in Utah’s Paradox Basin.
The shares jumped 53 per cent this week on good news during sampling of lithium, bromide, iodine and magnesium at Cane Creek — the second stage of Anson’s exploration program at the Paradox project.

A flow of supersaturated brine to the surface was a “significant development” the company said.
The stock reached heights of 8.5c in Friday trade, but settled to 7.5c at the close. That’s compared to a high of 31c earlier this year.
Nickel and gold play GTI Resources (ASX:GTR) climbed 42 per cent after industry mover-and-shaker Tolga Kumova joined the share registry.
Mr Kumova now holds a 5.6 per cent interest in the company, bought on-market for $102,000.
After a recent capital raise GTR says it is in a position to look for opportunities.
The shares closed at 4.4c compared to 3.1c before Easter.
In the no-news-is-good-news department, Leigh Creek Energy (ASX:LCK) jumped 50 per cent on unusually high trading volumes.
Queried by the ASX, Leigh said there was no news to report.
Leigh Creek is working on converting coal into gas for extraction from a disused coal field in South Australia. The coal is so deep it can’t be accessed by conventional open-cut mining.
Leigh closed the week at 15c.
Affordable housing builder Questus (ASX:QSS) jumped 38 per cent this week on no news.
Questus is looking for new opportunities after Kevin Rudd’s 10-year National Rental Affordability Scheme came to an end this year.
Labour hire and recruitment group Ashley Services (ASX:ASH) also enjoyed gains this week without any news for investors.
The stock gained 34 per cent to 21.5c for the week.
